The Neohexane Mission

Welcome to Neohexane. Our mission is simple: to bridge the gap between complex chemical theory and interactive digital reality. Built from the ground up, Neohexane is designed to provide students, educators, and science enthusiasts with highly interactive, data-driven tools—starting with our flagship Interactive Periodic Table. But to really understand what Neohexane is, you have to know how it started.

The Founder's Story

Hi, I am Ritin, the creator of Neohexane. I am currently a BSc. Chemistry student from Jamshedpur, India, but my journey here was anything but a straight line.

I have been a curious tinkerer since childhood. Back in 2016-2018, my uncle ran an electronics shop, and I used to scrape out motors and parts from the junk left on our house terrace just to build things. By 9th standard, that curiosity shifted to computers. I still remember being the first person to raise my hand after solving Java programming questions given by my computer teacher, Chobay sir. He was my favorite teacher—not just because he was funny, but because I truly loved the way he taught programming. I started learning web development from YouTube on a Dell Vostro laptop belonging to my sister (a laptop that, as of 2026, is now 13 years old and still part of my story).

Everything was going great until COVID hit in 2021 when I was in class 10. I am from the only ICSE school in our region (Musabani, about 50km from Jamshedpur). With the world locked down, I sped up my web dev knowledge, creating websites that ran locally. I passed my 10th board exams with a 92.6% and, not knowing exactly what I wanted, chose Bio-Science to prepare for the NEET medical exams.

After a hardcore year of NEET prep, I realized I was losing myself. I gave the exam a second time just for the sake of it, but I knew I wanted to leave Biology behind. Moving to Jamshedpur with my childhood friend Deepankar, I realized something important during my medical prep: I was actually really good at Chemistry. So, I enrolled in a BSc. Chemistry program.

The Spark

A year and a half passed in college, and I felt like I was just spending days doing nothing. Then, a friend named Piyush connected me with his friend Aman, who was starting an e-commerce startup. They needed a website but couldn't pay me at the moment. I said yes anyway. Suddenly, the lost Ritin was back! I was back in my playground—managing servers, frontend UI, and core e-commerce features. I built an elegant website at a very low cost, but unfortunately, due to a lack of funding, the startup was postponed. I had to extract all the data and delete the servers so they wouldn't incur extra costs. It was painful watching all that effort go south.

A few weeks later, feeling empty, I had a thought: Why not build a website for myself? Ironically, I had just earned some funds working as a Biometric Supervisor for the Re-NEET exam on June 20th, 2026. After a lot of analyzing and calculating the risks, I bought the domain. I decided to merge my love for Chemistry with my passion for Web Development, and Neohexane was born.

Why 'Neohexane'?

Neohexane was actually my Instagram username! When I first created my account in 12th grade (2023), I was already a hardcore chemistry enthusiast, but I was also deeply fascinated by the movie The Matrix. I loved the main character, Neo (Thomas Anderson), and that is exactly where the 'Neo' came from. I combined it with 'Hexane' to represent the perfect bond between my love for digital, sci-fi aesthetics and organic chemistry. The name just stuck, and when it came time to build this platform, it was the only logical choice.

And that Yellow Smile DP?

Haha, that is a classic story. During school, my WhatsApp DP was just a blank screen for months. Eventually, I changed it to a picture of glowing eyes in the dark. My cousin, Rishu Bhaiya, joked: "Dheere dheere ankh aya hai, aab dheere dheere muh bhi aayega?" (Slowly you've got eyes, now will you get a mouth?). So, I searched for a yellow smile, found this unique one, and my profile picture has never updated since. Every social media account I have—even my Gmail—carries that same smile.
